 The 3 R's

Every day millions of people throw away everyday items, most of which can be recycled or reused.

1. REDUCE

Learn to live your life with less, meaning don't buy or use things unless you really need them in your life. Learn to scale-back on excessive material items and begin to enjoy all the things you already have. Donate any items that you are willing to let go of or no longer need. There are always people who can use your castoffs.

Freecycle: Great site to use to

exchange your goods.

-Buy Local When Possible

Visit your local farmers market

Learn to BUY LOCALLY

2. REUSE

If you have items that are broken, outdated, etc. Find a way to re-purpose the item and breath new life into it. Find uses for items such as use old canning jars to drink from, store nails, etc.

Purchase reusable coffee & water cups, reusable lunch totes & shopping bags

3. RECYCLE

Simple steps, buy a large storage bin or multiple medium size bins that stack for sorting. Make a conscious effort to recycle all your papers, plastics, glass and aluminum. On all recyclable plastics, you will see a number indicating which recyclable plastic it is. Some recycling centers won't take all numbers, most only take 1 & 2 plastics. There are centers who take all plastics, even most restaurant take-out containers can be recycled.

Here are some resources below to help you along the way:

www.earth911.org

Both sites help you find resources in your area for all items & helps guide you about how to recycle, etc.
